The Agnes Arber Story

A gin with a beautiful history

One of the finest historians of her time, Agnes Arber became the first woman to receive the Gold Medal of the Linnean Society of London, for her contributions to botanical science.

The Linnean Society is the world’s oldest active biological society. Presented in exceptional circumstances and only awarded three times in the history of the organisation, the Linnean Gold Medal is the highest honour recognising outstanding service to the Society.

Agnes Arber Gin & Arboretum Gin are a botanical tribute to the First Lady of Botany, Agnes Arber.

Production

Agnes Arber Gins are distilled at Langley’s Distillery just outside Birmingham, in a 500 litre copper pot still, affectionately named ‘Jenny.’ Jenny is one of the oldest working copper pot stills in the UK!

Our original Premium Gin is made using the same traditional method of gin distilling that was used in Arber’s day. It is a convergence of nine studiously sourced botanicals and clean, pure alcohol. A solid and heady scent of juniper followed by sweet lemon tones, Arber Premium delivers the expected juniper flavour harmoniously balanced with a soft blend of orange and lemon and a hint of liquorice sweetness to finish.

The nine botanicals included in Arber Premium gin include angelica, cassia, coriander, grapefruit, iris, juniper, lemon, liquorice and orange. Using the original Arber Premium as the base, fresh rhubarb and pineapple are added post-distillation to achieve the flavoured range.
